Physical Therapy involves evaluation and treatment of a wide variety of medical conditions that have resulted in impairment to an individual's ability to move or function. Physical Therapy may use exercise, manual therapy, therapy techniques, and various modalities to help relieve pain, improve strength and function. Physical Therapy services are provided in an outpatient or inpatient setting.
Hours for Physical Therapy: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Orthopedic: arthritis, tendonitis, joint replacement, ligament sprain, muscle strains, fractures
Vestibular Rehabilitation treats disease or damage involving the inner ear and areas of the brain that controls balance and eye movement. Symptoms of vestibular disorder can include vertigo, imbalance, spatial disorientation, vision disturbances, hearing changes, cognitive and/or psychological changes and nausea or vomiting.
Neurologic: Stroke, MS, Ataxia, Parkinson
Urinary incontinence or loss of bladder control affects many people. Through our Physical therapy, you can learn techniques to strengthen the pelvic floor to reduce your bladder leakage.
RAMC physical therapy patients can now self-refer to our physical therapists, for the evaluation and treatment of common musculoskeletal conditions, through a program called Direct Access.
“Although we keep in close contact with each patient’s physician, Direct Access gives patients the ability to see a physical therapist without a referral,” says Sandra Jewell, Rehabilitation Director at RAMC. “This often reduces the wait time to see a therapist, helping get the patients started on therapy sooner.”
• Direct Access is for patients ages 18 – 59
• Only musculoskeletal injuries can be seen (example, tendonitis)
• Direct Access is not approved for patients with Medicare, Medical Assistance or workers compensation. We always recommend contacting your insurance company to verify coverage.
