Car Bed for Preterm Landon

February 9, 2021

On February 2, 2021, baby Landon was welcomed into the world at 8:08 am, weighing six pounds, 7 ounces and measuring 18.5 inches. Landon was born at 36 weeks, so he was considered preterm, as are all babies born before 37 completed weeks. Preterm babies can have a more difficult time transitioning to the outside world and may experience issues with breathing, eating, and staying warm, just to name a few.

As part of our care for preterm and small babies, the RAMC Birth Center performs a car seat test to ensure the baby doesn't have any problems riding in a standard car seat. Landon was tested and wasn't able to safely ride in his car seat, so he was given a car bed to be transported in until he gets a little older and bigger.

Pictured is RAMC car seat technician Jodi McCarville assisting Landon's mom with installing the car bed into her vehicle.
