COVID-19 Vaccine Q&A with Dr. Elizabeth Baker

Update January 25, 2021

Adults ages 65 and older are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Reedsburg Area Medical Center receives a small number of vaccines every week, allocated by the state of Wisconsin. We have no control over the number we receive and we ask for your patience as this process will take some time.

We are reaching out to our patients directly. Because there are so many needing vaccinations, we will be calling our patients in order of age. Please rest assured that you will not be missed.

  • It is important to note that once your vaccine appointment is scheduled, if you need to cancel it for any reason, PLEASE call ahead so we do not withhold someone else receiving it. Because two vaccines are necessary, your second dose will also be scheduled.
  • If you are not a current patient or have not received care at RAMC but live in Reedsburg or the surrounding area, please call us at 608-524-8611 and we will add you to our call list.
  • There is no cost to receive the vaccine. An administration fee will be charged but rest assured it is covered 100% by your insurance or the federal government.

RAMC follows federal, state and local public health guidelines. Because we receive doses of the vaccine as they are allocated to us, we currently have a very limited supply of the vaccine available.

We will communicate via social media, newspapers and radio as well as Nixle (to sign up for Nixle, text your zip code to 888777).

If you are an RAMC patient, we do recommend you have an active MyChart account. If you do not have MyChart, you can follow this link to sign up:  https://www.ramchealth.com/patients-visitors/mychart

You may have seen in the news that the COVID-19 vaccine can cause an inflammation or changes to the lymph nodes in the armpit of the vaccinated arm. This is normal and temporary. Therefore, RAMC is asking that patients receive their screening mammogram 6 weeks after receiving their COVID-19 vaccination.
Should you have a COVID-19 vaccination appointment and a scheduled screening mammogram within 6 weeks of each other, we request that you delay your screening mammogram appointment. We do have same day walk in appointments available and may be able to accommodate you. Please give us a call at 608-524-6487. Further, as we place our reminder calls to our patients, we are assisting in this by asking your COVID-19 vaccination history. Thank you!
