RAMC’s Seniors On the Go Celebrates 20 Years
It was on January 15th, 1998 when eight Ridgeview Heights Independent Living neighbors gathered at the Ridgeview Heights/Fusch Community Center for the first senior exercise class led by a RAMC Physical Therapist.
Shortly after beginning, community members were invited to join. It grew rapidly, outgrowing its space and moving to the Rec Center in downtown Reedsburg while the Fusch Center underwent remodeling to double its size. Seniors On the Go moved into the new space in 2005 where it grew so popular that an additional class was added.
Today’s Seniors On the Go class is led by RAMC instructors, Joan Kaul, Stephanie Joseph, and Kristina D’Ambrosio. The exercises vary but include stretching, strengthening with hand weights and exercise bands, balance, aerobic, Zumba Gold, sitting and standing exercises. Everyone exercises at their own pace and skill.
Reedsburg Area Medical Center’s Seniors On the Go meets Tuesday and Thursdays from 9:30am – 10:30 am. The cost is only $12 per month and exercise bands and some weights are available for participants to use. For more information please call Joan Kaul at 768-6120.
This 12-week exercise program focuses on progressive weight training, flexibility, and balance activities for women of all ages, but especially geared for mid-life and older.
Classes meet for a 12-week period at the Fusch Community Center.
Cost is just $35.
