• Medical Imaging

Imaging Services Offered:

  • Bone Density Scan — can detect if you have osteoporosis — a disorder characterized by bones that become weak, fragile, and brittle, putting you at risk for bone breaks and fractures.

  • CT Scans — CT scans are computer processed specialized -xrays. They are useful, as they can show several types of tissue - including lung, bone, soft tissue, and blood vessels - with great detail. This allows the radiologists to assist in the diagnoses of cancer, cardiovascular disease, lung cancer, infectious disease, trauma and musculoskeletal disorders.

  • EKG stands for Electrocardiogram. It is a recording of the electrical activity of the heart using electrodes placed on the skin. These electrodes detect small changes that come from the cardiac muscle during each heartbeat.

  • Fluoroscopy — often used to diagnose conditions of the upper gastrointestinal tract, lower gastrointestinal tract and esophagus. This can also be used to assist the provider with joint injections.

  • General X-ray — X-ray uses radiation to produce images of the spine, abdomen, chest, pelvis and all extremities. This service is available at RAMC's hospital, Physicians Group and Specialty Group.

  • 3D Mammograms — The 3D Mammography exam allows radiologists to examine your breast tissue layer by layer. So, instead of viewing all of the complexities of your breast tissue in a flat image, as with conventional 2D mammography, fine details are more visible and no longer hidden by the tissue above or below. Same day screening mammograms are available after your Well Woman Exam. Ask your provider about this convenient option.

  • In-house MRI — MRI is a medical imaging technique used to form pictures of the anatomy of the body. MRI does not use radiation, rather it uses a very strong magnetic field. It can detect disease in the early stages without a need for surgery. This non-invasive procedure allows radiologists to examine bones and soft tissue

  • Nuclear Medicine is a medical specialty involving the application of radioactive substances in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Nuclear medicine imaging, in a sense, is "radiology done inside out”,  because it records radiation emitting from within the body rather than radiation that is generated by external sources like X-rays.

  • PET Scan — PET Scan technology is available at Reedsburg Area Medical Center through a mobile unit. It measures important body functions such as blood flow and oxygen use that allows your doctor to check for diseases in your body.

  • Stress Tests — include an electrocardiogram to measure your heart's electrical activity as you exercise on a treadmill or on a stationary bicycle. The provider may also measure your blood oxygen level, blood pressure, and heart rate. During the test, you will exercise for 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Ultrasound — often used during pregnancy, but can also be used to detect small lesions in the breast. It can also be used to visualize the abdominal and pelvic organs, veins and arteries, the heart and other tissues.
