RAMC’S CLUB SCRUB OPENS YOUNG EYES TO HEALTH PROFESSIONS
Reedsburg Area Medical Center recently hosted nearly 30 middle school students for two days of information and hands on learning through a program called Club Scrub.
Club Scrub’s goal is to expose students to the various careers in healthcare through a variety of hands on activities and informing them of the different educational requirements of each of the fields. Studies have repeatedly shown that early introduction and exposure to healthcare careers has an impact on the ability to recruit and retain an adequate workforce to enhance local healthcare delivery.
RAMC’s Club Scrub was held over two mornings in mid-October with participants learning not only by listening but also learning by doing in the areas of emergency services, wound care, medical imaging, cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation, medical-surgical nursing, nutrition services, dermatology, surgery, podiatry, physical/occupational/speech therapies, laboratory, respiratory care and the Birth Center.
A special thank you to the presenters and students for making RAMC’s first Club Scrub a huge success! We are looking forward to many more!
