The RAMC Birth Center offers a variety of classes for parents-to-be, siblings and new parents.

CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION SESSIONS
Prepare for your personal childbirth journey with us.
Weeks 1-4: learn relaxation, the benefits of breathing patterns, pain-coping practices, how dad/partners can help, options for medications, basic car seat safety and decision-making skills for a fulfilling, confident birth experience. Week 5: includes the Happiest Baby on the Block techniques to soothe fussy babies & help them sleep longer, as well as getting to know and care for your newborn.
Week 6: Basics of Breastfeeding covers positioning, latch, breast pumps and pumping, tips for success and more.

Session 3 - May 2, 9, 16, 23; Happiest Baby: May 30; Breastfeeding: June 6
Session 4 - July 11, 18, 25, Aug 1; Happiest Baby: Aug. 8; Breastfeeding: Aug. 15
Session 5 - August 29, Sept. 5, 12, 19; Happiest Baby: Sept. 26; Breastfeeding: Oct. 3
Session 6 - October 10, 17, 24, 31; Happiest Baby: Nov. 7; Breastfeeding: Nov. 14

SIX SATURDAY CLASSES are offered in 2012. The content is similar to that listed above, with less detail and practice. Families choosing the Saturday class option are encouraged to attend the Breastfeeding & Happiest Baby Classes which best fit their time schedule, as listed below.
• 2012 Saturday dates:
January 14 July 14 March 10 Sept. 8 May 12 Nov. 10
• Classes meet in the lower level wellness area from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
• Price Options for the Saturday class are: Basic $60 (both packages also include the cost of the Breastfeeding & Happiest Baby classes as discussed above) ; or Premier Package $75 (including the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD & popular Soothing Sounds CD, a $30 value)
INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION
The following educational options are available in an individualized format to better meet the needs of each family. Please call the Birth Center for your appointment or for more information (768-6251).
Water Birth Preparation
This no cost session includes a video, tour and discussion of the benefits and contraindications
Sibling Preparation Tour
This free class emphasizes the importance of big brothers and sisters, visiting mom and baby at the hospital and learning a little bit about babies. For children ages 2-6 years.
Grandparent Education
There is no cost for this class where information is shared on current childrearing practices including safety, car seats, sleep and infant development.
Car Seat Education
RAMC is proud to have several Certificied Care Seat Technicians who would teach you the basics of car seat safety and usage as well as a free car seat check.
