RAMC Receives Governor's 2011 Worksite Wellness Award!
We recognize that there are many facets of the word “health.” Being healthy does not stop at getting regular exercise and eating low-fat, balanced meals. Being a healthy person also means that one gets regular physical and dental exams, keeps stress under control, abstains from or limits alcohol use, is tobacco free, keeps blood pressure and cholesterol within normal ranges, practices safe habits at home, in the car and at work, etc. We realize the majority of employees waking hours are spent at work. So, what better place to promote healthy habits?
Bottom line, we would like to reward employees who make an effort to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families.
• Our Goal: To provide opportunities for RAMC and RASLC staff to develop, plan and maintain a wellness initiative.
• The H.E.A.L.T.H. program is a year long program designed to reward both those who already practice healthy behaviors AND those who make significant improvements!
• Participation in health evaluations (cholesterol test, blood pressure check and body composition analysis) and activities provided by RAMC are completely voluntary. (Employees may also participate in the health programs without signing up for the incentive points.)
• By participating in this program, employees will practice healthy behaviors to earn points in exchange for incentive rewards.
New Dietary Recommendations! The new 2012 Dietary Guidelines for Americans focus on balancing calories with physical activity, and encourage Americans to consume more healthy foods like vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fat-free and low-fat dairy products, and seafood, and to consume less sodium, saturated and trans fats, added sugars, and refined grains.
